Log in to the portal with your LUT user account and click "Add new" button from the top right corner of the Dashboard. Select "Research output" from the Research outputs -menu.

Manual creation is the default setting for adding publications to the portal. Select the publication type from the list.

Once you click on the desired publication type, a form will open, allowing you to add information related to the publication in the various tabs that appear at the top. 

Fill in the form, mandatory fields are marked with asterisk (*). More details can be seen in the form.

You can change the output type, definition of the type can be seen below.

This example is the journal article template.

Add title and abstract.

Select Language. Click the blue plus (+) button under Language to add language of the publication.

Select Country. The country is publisher’s country or the organizing country of the conference. Click the (+) button to add it.

Next list the authors of your publication. Notice format: Lastname Firstname, Lastname Firstname

The number of authors is calculated automatically.

Next select the LUT authors' business cards. Primarily use Active cards only. Ended -type cards can be added also id the active card is not available.

Next fill the Journal or series information. Click the plus (+) button under Journal Details to open the entry form for Journal information.

In the conference publications add also the conference event information.

You can search the journal or select it from the list. Pick from the list of journals available in the system to add the journal to your publication record.

If the journal is not in the system yet, you can add it here by clicking on the white plus (+) button next to the A-Z button. A new edit page for adding a new journal opens. Enter the journal information; you can also do a Sherpa/RoMEO lookup for the ISSN.

When adding a new journal to the system a new window opens.

Note! Be sure that the journal doesn't exist in the system. Do not add duplicate journals to the system!


Next fill Additional publication information. Select suitable options.

Save by clicking Save button and move to the Thematic Classification tab. 


First select one primary Fields of science which your publication is related to.


Select up to 5 additional fields of science related to your publication.

Next select LUT Focus Areas of your output from list and from the radio button selections.

Your publication will be shown in the public portal under the selected LUT Focus Areas.

Select the Thematic Areas. Your publication will be shown in the public portal under the selected areas.

You can add keywords to your publication.

If needed, select the related Projects and Citations tab.        

Finally, click Save & Close button.

Select status "Non-validated" if you want to edit this publication later. In this status publication is not public and it will not be counted to statistics in LUT.

If you have filled all the mandatory information, set the status “For validation by library”. The library will see the record under their Things to do and know they need to validate the record. Note: in this workflow status you will not be able to edit the record anymore, however you will see it in your publication list and can access and review the edit page, but you can send a "Request change" to the library if something needs to be changed.
