ACM is an educational and scientific society. ACM publishes, distributes and archives publications in computing and information technologies.

The ACM Digital Library is a comprehensive collection of ACM publications online and it contains over 1.4 million pages of text, including
- Journals
- Magazines
- Transactions
- Conference Proceedings Series
- SIG Newsletters
- Publications by Affiliated Organizations
- Book Series

Authorized user

 

Authorised User means:
- Current members of the faculty, researchers and other staff of the Licensee (whether on a permanent, temporary, contract or visiting basis, or retired staff as long as he or she is not employed by another non-subscribing institution) and individuals who are currently studying at the Licensee institution.
- For public libraries: library staff wherever situated; library card holders who are citizens of or are domiciled in Finland; exchange students or other individuals during the period that they temporarily reside in Finland

Walk-in Users means Persons who are not Authorised Users but who are permitted to access the Secure Network from computer terminals within the Licensee's premises.

Permitted use

Authorized and Walk-in Users may for Educational purposes:

- Access, search, browse, view, download, print data from the Licensed Material.
- Electronically save copies of parts of the Licensed Material.
- Distribute single copies of parts of the Licensed Material in print or electronic form to other Authorised and Walk-in-Users. This sub-clause shall include the distribution of a copy for teaching purposes to each individual student Authorised User in a class at the Subscriber’s institution.
- Distribute single copies of parts of the Licensed Material in print or electronic form to third party colleagues for the purposes of scientific research and communication or to be used for the basis of discussion groups.
- Publicly display or publicly perform parts of the Licensed Material as part of a presentation at a seminar, conference, or workshop, or other such similar activity.
- Incorporate parts of the Licensed Material in printed or electronic form in Academic Works, including reproductions of the Academic Works for personal use and library deposit, if such use conforms to the customary and usual practice of the Subscriber. Reproductions in printed or electronic form of Academic Works may be provided to sponsors of such Academic Works. Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, listing title and copyright owner.

Only Authorized Users may:
- Incorporate parts of the Licensed Material in printed and electronic course packs, study packs, resource lists and in any other material (including but not limited to multi-media works) to be used in the course of instruction and/or in virtual and managed environments (including but not limited to virtual learning environments, managed learning environments, virtual research environments and library environments) hosted on a Secure Network. Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, listing title and copyright owner. Course packs in non-electronic non-print perceptible form, such as Braille, may also be offered to Authorised Users who, in the reasonable opinion of the Subscriber, are reading impaired.

Prohibited use

Neither the Subscriber nor any Authorized or Walk-in User shall use the Licensed Material for any commercial exploitation, transfer, transmit, reproduce, loan to any third party, publish or otherwise exploit, modify, create derivative works from or combine with other material the Licensed Material, except to the extent necessary to exercise the licenses granted by this Agreement.

Remote access

Authorized users are allowed remote access to the licensed material by logging into the secure network of a consortium member organisation.
